Delayed plans

“We haven’t even lived here for a month, right?”

“Yeeeess,” I said, with deep suspicion.

“And we haven’t actually spent a while weekend here yet, because we’ve been cleaning out the other house, right?”

“Yeeeesss…”

“And we haven’t nearly finished unpacking yet.”

“Yeah, I know.”

“So I don’t really see how we can get a nervous dog into a routine living here when we haven’t even got into a routine living here ourselves yet.”

“Oh, I know. You’re right. Which is very annoying. I’m just so excited about the idea, and I hate waiting, and I wanna go to the pound right away. Wah.”

“Let’s just wait a few months, and then get a dog. I think it’ll work much better that way.”

I know he’s right, I know it’s the most sensible thing to do, but lord, I hate waiting when I’ve been looking forward to something.

I am so excited for you. I am as impatient as you are - hurry up and organise yourselves!

Very practical. Besides, if all the other stuff is finished then you and your pup can just glory in each other. (She says calmly as though she weren't an impatient nitwit herself.) ~LA

And I still can't help hoping that you will love your wildlife enough to realise that a dog, even a dog restrained by a fence, is going to stress the kangaroos, koalas, echidnas, goannas and birds. These precious creatures that belong in your bush will not come so close to your house when they can hear and smell the dog because they will be afraid.

Celia, gone all day...?

Please, don't get something like a lab or a golden or a sheperd or something big and then just pen it up outside all day...not unless it's old and...

Get something small if you're going to leave it home all day alone. It's really so unfair to a dog to do that.
